Six Fins Jet Ski Rental
Jet Ski Rental in Key West. Brand-new fleet. Two marinas. Six skis, max.
Rent a 2024 Yamaha Waverunner VX Series from either of our Stock Island launches — freestyle for an hour, or follow a FWC-permitted guide around the island. No 25-ski conga lines, no rebuilt 2018 fleet, no "we'll just push through that chop" days.
What you're actually renting
Three things matter when you rent a jet ski in Key West
Fleet condition, group size, and whether the operator can run on your day. Most rental shops fail at least one. Here's where Six Fins stands.
Most jet ski rental listings in Key West read the same. Same stock photos, same vague "from $XX" pricing, same fleet of beat-up runners that have been rebuilt three times since 2018. Then you show up, the day's a little windy, and the guy at the dock either tells you you're refunded or hands you over to a 25-ski group and a guide on the lead boat half a mile ahead. That's the version most operators run.
Six Fins is built different. We rent brand-new 2024 Yamaha Waverunners — the same model the Coast Guard auxiliary buys, quieter and steadier than the 2018 fleet most rental shops are still running. Every Six Fins jet ski rental launches from one of two Stock Island marinas: Perry Hotel & Marina on the Gulf side and Hurricane Hole Marina off US-1. If the wind is blowing 18 out of the east and Perry is rough, we move you to Hurricane Hole. If a south swell is closing out the Atlantic side, we flip the route. Most operators only have one marina — one bad-wind day and they cancel.
Our guided rides cap at six skis per group. Not fifteen. Not twenty-five. Six. That number is deliberate — it's how many skis a single guide can actually keep eyes on, talk to over the radio, and lead at a pace that flexes for the slowest rider without dragging the fastest one to a crawl. Every guided departure is led by a Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission-permitted guide. That's the credential that matters for jet ski livery work in Florida, and not every Key West rental shop carries it.
From there it's a choice: freestyle for an hour in a defined zone with a safety boat on the water, take the 90-minute premium guided tour for sandbars and protected coves, or run the 28-mile flagship loop all the way around the island. Same fleet, same crew, three ways to ride.
Why Rent With Six Fins
Four reasons people pick us over the next listing down
Not slogans. Things you can verify when you walk up to the dock.
Brand-new 2024 fleet
Yamaha Waverunners straight from the dealer — quieter, smoother, and considerably faster than the rebuilt 2018s most Key West rental shops still run.
Two marinas, one phone call
Perry on the Gulf side, Hurricane Hole on the Atlantic side. If the wind's wrong at one launch, we move you to the other. Most operators cancel on wind days — we usually don't.
FWC-permitted guides
Every guided ride is led by a Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission-permitted guide. It's the credential that matters for jet ski work in Florida — ask other shops if theirs carry it.
Max six skis per group
Cap a guided group at six and the guide can actually lead. Cap it at twenty-five and you're not on a tour, you're on a parade. We picked six on purpose.
Three more ways to ride
Pick your rental format
All three run from both marinas (subject to that day's conditions). Same fleet, same brief, same crew. Different time on the water and different amount of guiding.

Jet ski rental questions, answered
The actual questions guests ask us when they call — not the FAQ template every other rental shop copy-pastes.
Where can I rent jet skis in Key West?
Six Fins rents jet skis from two Stock Island marinas: Perry Hotel & Marina at 7001 Shrimp Rd and Hurricane Hole Restaurant & Marina at 5130 US-1. Both are about a ten-minute drive from Duval Street. Reserve online or call (305) 906-2880 and we'll book you into whichever marina makes sense for that day's wind.
Do I need riding experience?
No. Every Six Fins rental begins with a short on-water orientation — throttle, lanyard, kill switch, how the ski handles a turn. The 1-Hour Freestyle session runs inside a defined zone with a safety boat on the water, so first-timers can find the throttle before they wander. Guided tours pace to the slowest rider in the group, and our six-ski group cap keeps that from being a drag on anyone.
If you've ridden before, say so when you book — the guide will read the group and pick a route that lets you actually open it up.
Are there age and weight limits?
Drivers must be 18 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID. Passengers must be at least 5 years old. The Yamaha Waverunner VX Series is rated for two adults up to a combined 352 lbs, or one adult plus one child. If your group includes a heavier pair or a smaller kid, give us a call before you book and we'll pair up the skis sensibly.
Can I rent a jet ski without a guide?
Yes. The 1-Hour Freestyle Ride is our self-paced rental: a defined open-water freestyle zone, a Six Fins safety boat keeping eyes on you, and no guided route. It's the closest thing to a traditional "rent it and go" jet ski in Key West, with the safety net of someone on the water.
If you want to actually see the island — sandbars, mangrove tunnels, the Atlantic side — that's where the guided 90-minute or 2-hour rides come in. The route, the local spots, and the timing all depend on local knowledge.
Are same-day rentals possible?
Often, yes. We hold same-day availability for both marinas most days, especially mid-week and outside peak holiday weekends. Call (305) 906-2880 and we'll tell you what's open in the next two hours. Walk-ups are welcome if a ski is free, but a phone call locks it in.
What's included in the rental price?
Every Six Fins jet ski rental includes fuel for the full session, a USCG-approved Type III PFD for every rider, a dry bag for your phone and keys, the on-water safety briefing, and use of our brand-new 2024 Yamaha Waverunner VX Series. Guided rides also include your FWC-permitted lead guide. Gratuity is not included — if your guide makes the trip, taking care of them is appreciated.
What if the weather is bad on our rental day?
Two marinas on opposite sides of the island give us flexibility most Key West operators don't have. On a windy east-wind day, Perry is calm. On a south-swell day, we lean Hurricane Hole. If conditions genuinely prevent a safe ride from either launch, you get a full refund or a reschedule — your choice. We'd rather move you to a better day than send you out into chop.
