The 1-hour freestyle jet ski rental: less commitment, same Yamaha VX.
The 1-hour Freestyle Ride is the quick option — guided, fast, and out of Hurricane Hole Marina. If you have an afternoon slot, a half-day gap in your Key West schedule, or just want to know what a Yamaha VX at full throttle feels like, this is the right booking.
The guide leads the group out of the harbor, gets everyone comfortable, then opens it up in the open water south of Stock Island. Room to play, room to ride fast, same six-ski-max format as our other tours.
No sandbar stop on this one — it’s a riding tour, not a swimming tour. If you want the swim, book the 90-minute Premium or the 2-hour Flagship.

What people say.
"Manny did a fantastic job — guided us so well, made us feel safe, and ensured we had a great time. Strongly recommend for anyone looking for a fun and smooth experience."
"Drew gave us what basically turned into a private tour, stopping to point out landmarks and even take photos for us. Super down-to-earth and made it a memorable part of our trip."
Before you book.
Is there a sandbar stop on this ride?
No — this is a riding tour, not a swimming tour. If you want a sandbar stop, book the 90-minute Premium Tour (Boca Chica) or the 2-hour Flagship Tour. The 1-hour Freestyle is all riding.
Why does this depart from Hurricane Hole?
The 1-hour Freestyle is staged at Hurricane Hole because of how the open-water loop is designed from that marina. Perry runs the 90-min and 2-hour tours; Hurricane Hole runs the 1-hour Freestyle and also the 2-hour Flagship.
Can beginners do this?
Yes — same guide, same coaching, same safety brief. The 1-hour is actually a good first-time choice if you’re not sure whether you want a longer commitment. You can always come back for the 2-hour once you know you like it.
Can kids come?
Riders 6+ welcome only with a 21+ adult on the same ski. Driver must be 16+. The 1-hour length works well for younger passengers who might tire on a longer tour.
Do I need a boating license for the 1-Hour Freestyle?
Yes if you’re driving and you were born on or after January 1, 1988 — Florida requires a Boating Safety Education ID Card. Take the FWC-approved Temporary Boater Safety Course online before you arrive (about 30 minutes, $9.99) or come 1 hour early and do it at the dock. Born before 1988? Photo ID is enough. Drivers must be 16+ regardless.
How early should I arrive?
Plan to be at Hurricane Hole 25 to 30 minutes before your time slot. If you haven’t taken the boater course online, come at least 1 hour early so we can run you through it at the dock. You’ll also need to sign the liability waiver and livery attestation online before you arrive — the links are in your confirmation email. Tours leave on time. Late = no refund.
What should I bring?
Towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, non-alcoholic snacks or drinks. Wear a swimsuit under your clothes — you will get wet. Leave phones and valuables in the secure dock box. Your guide takes photos and texts them after the ride, so no need for a camera. Bottled water at the dock is $1. Bring the credit card used for booking plus a matching government-issued photo ID for check-in.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 48 hours before your departure for a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours and no-shows are non-refundable, and tickets booked within 48 hours of departure are non-refundable. Optional Reservation Refund Protection ($25 at booking, itself non-refundable) lets you refund or transfer up to one hour before departure for any reason. If we cancel for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a free reschedule — your call.
What happens if I damage the ski?
Drivers are financially responsible for damage. We pre-authorize a credit card hold at check-in. Repair charges run from $70 (lost key) to $10,000 (total loss) — a flooded engine is $750, a damaged seat $500, an impeller $1,000, a cracked hull $100 per square inch. Optional Damage Protection at the dock ($40) covers normal incidental damage and is recommended for first-time riders.
