Our Story · Mac & the Crew · Stock Island, FL
Six Fins started with a boat and a long memory of Key West.
The short version of how we got here. Plus what we built, who runs it, and what we believe about the water.
Forty-eight years from spring break to home port.
Mac first came down as a University of Miami student in 1975 — the kind of place you spend a long weekend at and think about for the next forty-eight years. He kept coming back.

In 2023, he finally docked his own boat at Stock Island and made it permanent. What he kept noticing was how few operators ran the day the way he’d want it run himself: small groups, no shared boats, a captain who actually talks to you, a route shaped around what your group wants to see.
So he built one. Six Fins is a private charter and small-group jet ski operation staffed by people who live and work on this water year-round — not just the high season.
No shared boats. No generic itineraries.
Every Six Fins charter is your group only. Your captain, your boat, your day. We don’t pile strangers onto a sunset cruise. We don’t run a fixed route because the schedule says so.

Want a quiet shallow patch where the kids can dig for shells? That’s the trip. Want a louder sandbar where the boats raft up and the music plays? Also the trip. The route is a conversation, not an itinerary.
Same goes for the jet ski tours — small groups, FWC-permitted guides, room to actually ride. We cap our tours at six skis because past that, you can’t keep the group together, and the people in the back stop having fun.
“The mega-fleet operators top out at 90 minutes because they can’t keep groups together over the distance. We can — because we cap groups at six.”

The people who actually run your day.
Five USCG-licensed boat captains and four FWC-permitted jet ski guides — all locals who live in Key West year-round, not just the high season. They’re the people you’ll meet at the dock and the ones the five-star reviews keep naming by first name.

iv — What we believe
What we believe about the water.

Everyone’s welcome at the dock.
Six Fins is an LGBTQ+-friendly operation. We’ve also run the clothing-optional charter, the bachelor party, the multi-generational family day, and everything in between. Come as you are — we’ve probably already had a version of your group on the boat this season.

We work this water year-round.
That means we have skin in the game on reef health. Our jet skis run the latest Yamaha VX engines because they’re cleaner and quieter. Our captains know which sandbars are getting trampled and quietly route trips elsewhere. We don’t lecture about it — we just do it.

The captain–guest relationship matters.
This is a small operation by design. You’re not a booking number. The captain who answers the phone might be the one running your trip. If something’s wrong on the day, you can text Mac directly. We’ve taken families out to scatter ashes; we’ve taken bachelorette parties to the sandbar; we treat both with the same care.
