Hurricane Hole Marina · 5130 Overseas Hwy, Key West, FL
Key West Jet Ski Rental at Hurricane Hole. South-side launch. Glass on wind days.
The south-facing jet ski rental basin most operators don’t have. When a north or northeast wind shuts down Perry and the marinas on the Gulf side, Hurricane Hole stays protected — and we keep running. It’s also the exclusive launch for our 2-hour, 28-mile circumnavigation of the island and the 1-hour freestyle ride.
Pick your time on the water
Two rentals exclusive to this south-side dock
Two Six Fins jet ski rentals launch exclusively from Hurricane Hole — the 1-Hour Freestyle Ride and the 2-Hour Flagship Tour. Same brand-new Yamaha VX fleet, same FWC-permitted guide crew, max six skis on every guided departure. The 90-Minute Premium Tour is Perry-exclusive.
Why this launch
What makes Hurricane Hole different
Two real reasons people search out this specific launch — not slogans, just how the geography and the fleet work.
Hurricane Hole Marina sits on the south side of Stock Island at 5130 Overseas Hwy, Key West, FL 33040, tucked behind the line of mangroves and condos that separates it from the channel. The basin faces south. That single fact does most of the work on this page.
In Key West, the prevailing fall and winter wind is out of the north or northeast. When it blows fifteen to twenty knots from that direction — which happens a lot, especially November through March — most jet ski rental launches face directly into it. The basin chops up, the dock-out is rough, the first half-mile of the ride is teeth-rattling, and a lot of operators just cancel. Hurricane Hole, facing the opposite way, stays glass. We ride days when others can't.
The other reason this launch matters: it's the exclusive starting point for the 2-Hour Flagship Tour — the only guided 28-mile circumnavigation of Key West offered anywhere on the island. Starting from the south side lets us run the Atlantic stretch first while it's calmest, swing through the cuts to the Gulf side past Sunset Key and Wisteria Island, glance up at Fort Zachary Taylor on the harbor approach, and return through the backcountry channels. The route runs through the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary with the Naval Air Station Key West / Boca Chica coastline on your port side. Wildlife you may spot: dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, nurse sharks, tarpon, pelicans, and frigate birds. Start anywhere else and the loop stretches by miles and burns time you'd rather spend on the water.
Six Fins took over jet ski operations at Hurricane Hole in 2026, after running the brand from Perry Hotel & Marina since 2024. The dock, the ramp, and the check-in are freshly improved. The fleet is the same brand-new 2024 Yamaha Waverunners we run at Perry. The guides are local. The six-ski-max group cap doesn't change.

If another operator told you no
Wind days and why this launch matters
If you booked somewhere else, got the "sorry, it's too windy" call, and you're looking for an operator that can still run — this is the page for you.
North wind blowing? We're probably still on.
Most jet ski rental launches in Key West are on the north side of the islands — Garrison Bight, A&B Marina, the basins off Roosevelt. They're protected from south winds and exposed to north winds. The dominant fall and winter wind direction here is out of the north or northeast. So when it cranks up to eighteen knots out of the NE on a Tuesday in February, those launches face directly into it. The chop in the basin is rough, the dock-out is worse, the first half-mile of the ride is miserable, and most operators just cancel the day.
Hurricane Hole faces south. Same eighteen-knot NE wind, and the basin is glass. The first stretch of the ride out is protected by Stock Island and the surrounding mangrove cuts. By the time you hit open water, you're already moving and the wind is at your back.
If you got a "we can't run today" call from another operator and you're searching for someone who can — call us at (305) 906-2880 with the day and the forecast. We'll tell you straight whether Hurricane Hole can run. If the answer is yes, we'll usually get you on the water within the next two hours.
Getting here
How to find Hurricane Hole Marina
About ten minutes from Duval Street, straight out US-1 on Stock Island. Free guest parking on-site, restaurant on the property if you want lunch before or after.
Address & directions
Hurricane Hole Marina
5130 Overseas Hwy, Key West, FL 33040
From Old Town, take US-1 / Overseas Hwy east. After you cross the Cow Key Channel Bridge onto Stock Island, stay on US-1 for about two miles. Hurricane Hole is on the right (south side), just before the bridge to Big Coppitt. Look for the marina sign and the restaurant.
From the airport, it's a five-minute drive — turn left out of EYW onto US-1 and follow the road past the Salt Run Apartments. Uber pickup at the marina entrance works cleanly.
Parking & check-in
Free guest parking is available on-site. Pull into the marina lot and look for the Six Fins jet ski check-in — we're at the south end of the dock, near the launch ramp.
Arrive 20-25 minutes before your departure time. We'll get your waiver signed, your PFD fitted, and run the on-water briefing on the dock before you launch. Bring a government-issued photo ID for whoever's driving the ski.
Restaurant on-site if you want food or a drink before or after — same property, no driving required.

Florida licenses jet ski livery work through the FWC, not the Coast Guard. Every Six Fins guided departure is led by a FWC-permitted guide — it's the credential that actually matters for this work in this state. Six-ski-max group cap means the guide can actually flex pace: adrenaline seekers ride up front, leisurely riders cruise back in the pack. Meet the rest of the crew on the team page.
Frequently asked
Hurricane Hole questions, answered
The actual questions guests ask us about this launch — not the FAQ template every other rental shop copy-pastes.
Where is Hurricane Hole Marina and how do I get there?
Hurricane Hole Marina is at 5130 Overseas Hwy, Key West, FL 33040, on the south side of Stock Island just before the bridge to Big Coppitt. It's a roughly ten-minute drive from Duval Street and about a fifteen-minute Uber. Free guest parking is available on-site; Six Fins jet ski rental guests check in at the tiki booth near the south end of the dock.
What’s included with my Six Fins booking from Hurricane Hole?
Every Six Fins booking — even from Hurricane Hole — includes a complimentary Perry Hotel & Marina day pass. Drive five minutes over to Perry before or after your ride to use the pool, the restaurants, or The Perry’s complimentary shuttle between the hotel, Higgs Beach, and the A&B Marina downtown.
On the ride itself: fuel, FWC-permitted lead guide on guided departures, and Type III life vests for every rider. The Yamaha Waverunner VX Series seats up to 3 riders at the same flat price. Florida sales tax and gratuity are the only items added at checkout.
Why launch from Hurricane Hole instead of Perry?
Hurricane Hole sits on the south side of Stock Island in a protected, south-facing basin. On days with a north or northeast wind — the most common wind direction in Key West fall and winter — the basin stays glass while north-facing launches get chopped up.
It's also the exclusive launch site for our 2-hour, 28-mile island circumnavigation, since the route runs cleanest starting from the south side. If you want the full loop, you start here.
I was told by another operator they can't run today — too windy. Can Six Fins?
Probably yes — it depends on wind direction. When the wind is out of the north or northeast (the typical fall and winter pattern), most Key West jet ski launches face into the wind and cancel. Hurricane Hole faces south, so the basin and the immediate ride out stay protected.
Call us at (305) 906-2880 with your day and the current forecast and we'll tell you straight whether we can run. Wind days are most of why this page exists.
Is Hurricane Hole really the only place to start the 2-hour flagship tour?
Yes. The 2-Hour Flagship Tour is a 28-mile loop around the entire island of Key West. Starting from the south side at Hurricane Hole lets us run the Atlantic side first while it's calmest, then return through the backcountry. Starting anywhere else stretches the route by miles and burns time you'd rather spend on the water.
It's the only guided 2-hour jet ski tour offered in Key West — everyone else taps out at 90 minutes — and it's the only one that actually circles the island.
When did Six Fins start running from Hurricane Hole?
Six Fins took over jet ski operations at Hurricane Hole Marina in 2026, succeeding the previous operator at this dock. The brand has been running from Perry Hotel & Marina since 2024, and Hurricane Hole brings the same brand-new 2024 Yamaha Waverunner VX Series fleet, the same FWC-permitted guides, and the same six-ski-max group cap. The Hurricane Hole dock and ramp are newer and freshly improved.
What rentals run from Hurricane Hole?
Two Six Fins jet ski rentals launch exclusively from Hurricane Hole:
The 1-Hour Freestyle Ride at $160 per ski and the 2-Hour Flagship Guided Tour at $209 per ski. Per-ski pricing — up to three riders share at the same rate (Yamaha VX seats three). The 2-hour flagship is exclusive to this launch.
The 90-Minute Premium Guided Tour ($189/ski) is the Perry-exclusive route — if you book Premium from this page we transfer you 5 minutes over to Perry Hotel & Marina. Same Six Fins crew, same fleet.
Who are the guides at Hurricane Hole?
Every guided ride at Hurricane Hole is led by a Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission-permitted local guide. The Hurricane Hole regulars include JJ, Manny, Carter, and Drew — all local, all running brand-new Yamaha Waverunners, all keeping the six-ski-max group cap. FWC permitting is the credential that matters for jet ski livery work in Florida.
Can I walk up and rent the same day?
Often, yes — especially mid-week and outside peak holiday weekends. We hold same-day availability at Hurricane Hole most days. Call (305) 906-2880 and we'll confirm what's open in the next two hours. Walk-ups are welcome if a ski is free, but a phone call locks it in.
Check in at the tiki, not a parking lot.
We renovated the booth at Hurricane Hole into a tiki-style spot where the guides hang between trips and where every guest meets the team before launch. It's the front door of Six Fins — and the last place you stop before the engines fire.
Reggae on the speaker. Lifejackets on the wall. A bar surface that's seen a lot of pre-trip briefings.
