The only one of its kind in Key West

The only 2-hour jet ski tour in Key West — a full 28-mile lap of the island.

Every other Key West operator runs 60 to 90 minutes. We run two hours because that’s how long it actually takes to circle the island, stop at the sandbar, hit the Atlantic side, and still have room to breathe.

Downtown shuttle

Use The Perry’s complimentary shuttle between the hotel, Higgs Beach, and the A&B Marina downtown.

Always free with every Six Fins jet ski tour and boat charter. No add-on. No catch.

What 30 extra minutes buys you

Two hours isn’t just “90 minutes plus a little.”

If you’ve already decided you want a real tour and not a quick rip around the harbor, here’s the actual difference between the two formats.

The Typical 90-Minute Tour

Loop & return

~14 to 18 miles

  • One side of the island, then back the way you came
  • One brief photo stop, usually rushed because the next group is staging
  • No real sandbar time — the guide can’t spare it
  • Atlantic side either skipped or sampled from a distance
  • Mangrove channels seen from the entrance, not ridden through
The Six Fins 2-Hour Tour

The full circumnavigation

28 miles, all the way around

  • A complete lap of the island — gulf side, Atlantic side, harbor, and back
  • Real time at the sandbar to jump off and get in the water
  • Multiple photo stops including the southernmost-point line from the water
  • The Atlantic side ridden, not glanced at
  • Mangrove channels actually ridden through, not just past
  • Time to swap drivers and passengers if two of you are on one ski

The 28-mile route

What two hours on the water with us actually looks like

Conditions and wind direction can shift the order, but every full lap covers all six of these. Your FWC-permitted lead guide calls the line based on the day. Wildlife you may spot along the route: dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, nurse sharks, tarpon, pelicans, and frigate birds — the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary teems with life on this run.

1

Mile 0 · The launch

Hurricane Hole Marina

Quick gear check, route brief, and we idle out through the no-wake zone into the channel. Engines open up the second we clear it.

2

Miles 1–6 · Backcountry

The mangrove channels

Protected flats and narrow cuts through the mangroves north of Stock Island. Calmer water, shallower color shifts, and the only part of the lap you won’t find on a tourist map.

3

Miles 7–14 · Atlantic side

Out to the open water

The east-to-south stretch along the Atlantic side of Key West, running through the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Boca Chica and the Naval Air Station Key West coastline pass on your port side. Long, fast lanes with plenty of room to actually open the ski up — the part of the lap riders remember most.

4

Mile ~15 · The photo stop

The southernmost point

The marker buoy line off the southernmost point of the continental U.S. We pause the group here so you can get the shot from the water that the people in line on land don’t get.

5

Miles 16–22 · Harbor pass

Old Town & the cruise piers

Past Sunset Key, Wisteria Island (Christmas Tree Island), Mallory Square, the cruise ship piers, Fort Zachary Taylor on the harbor approach, and the historic seaport. The view of Key West most visitors never see — from the water, looking in.

6

Miles 23–28 · Sandbar & return

Sandbar stop and home

A real stop on a working sandbar. Jump off, get in the water, swap drivers if you’re doubled up, then we run the last stretch back to Hurricane Hole.

What’s included

$209 per ski covers everything except gratuity

No fuel surcharge, no equipment rental fee, no “guide tip jar” built into the booking page. Here’s the actual list.

Fuel

All gas burned across the 28 miles is on us.

FWC-permitted lead guide

Every tour led by a Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission-permitted guide who lives and rides these waters.

Life vests for every rider

Approved Type III PFDs sized for every passenger, including kids.

Group cap of 6 skis

Hard cap so the guide can actually flex pace for the whole group — adrenaline seekers riding up front near the guide, leisurely riders cruising back in the pack. Not the 20-ski conga line every other Key West operator runs.

Pricing

One flat price per ski

A Yamaha Waverunner VX Series seats up to three riders. One person, a couple, or a family of three pays the same flat rate — split it however you like.

2-Hour Jet Ski Tour Key West

I Lapped the Island

$209

per ski

  • 2 hours on the water, 28-mile full island circumnavigation
  • Up to 3 riders per ski — same flat price for 1, 2, or 3 riders
  • Fuel, FWC-permitted lead guide, and life vests included
  • Daily departures from Hurricane Hole Marina, Stock Island
  • Group cap of 6 skis per tour

Gratuity not included. Florida sales tax applies at checkout.

Frequently Asked

The questions people ask before they book

Why book a 2-hour tour vs the typical 90-minute?

Almost every other Key West jet ski operator caps at 60 or 90 minutes, which only leaves enough time for a loop near the harbor and one brief stop. Two hours is what it actually takes to make the full 28-mile circumnavigation of the island with real stops along the way — the Atlantic side, the mangrove channels, the sandbar on the back side, and time to take pictures without being rushed.

Six Fins is the only operator in Key West running this length and route. If you came searching for “2 hour jet ski tour Key West” on purpose, this is the page you were looking for.

What’s included with my Six Fins booking?

Every Six Fins jet ski tour and boat charter includes a complimentary Perry Hotel & Marina day pass — full access to the pool, the marina, the on-property restaurants, and The Perry’s complimentary shuttle between the hotel, Higgs Beach, and the A&B Marina downtown. Come early, stay late, take the shuttle downtown for lunch.

On the tour itself: fuel, FWC-permitted lead guide, and Type III life vests for every rider. Florida sales tax and gratuity are the only items added at checkout.

What does the 28-mile route actually cover?

Six legs: the Hurricane Hole launch, the protected mangrove channels north of Stock Island, the Atlantic-side run, the southernmost-point photo stop, the harbor pass along Mallory Square and the cruise piers, and the sandbar stop on the way back. Total distance is roughly 28 miles. See the full route breakdown above.

Where does the tour launch from?

Hurricane Hole Restaurant & Marina at 5130 US-1, Key West, FL 33040 — the same launch point this tour has run from for years. Parking is free at the marina. With advance notice we can also stage from Perry Hotel & Marina at 7001 Shrimp Rd if that’s closer to where you’re staying.

How many people max in a group?

Six skis maximum per tour. Each ski seats up to two riders, so a tour might be anywhere from two to twelve people total, but never more than six skis on the water at once. That keeps the group tight enough for the guide to actually lead a route and for you to enjoy the ride.

Need more than 6 skis for a private group? See our private group buyouts.

What if the weather is bad on my booked day?

If our guides determine conditions aren’t safe to run the full circumnavigation, you can reschedule or get a full refund — no fight about it. Hurricane Hole sits in a protected pocket on the back of Stock Island, so we’re often still operating when other Duval-side operators have cancelled for wind.

Can kids ride?

Yes. Riders 6 and up are welcome only with a 21+ adult on the same ski. The minimum driver age on Six Fins guided tours is 16 (Florida law allows 14 with a boater education ID, but Six Fins requires 16+ for safety). Most families have one parent driving with a child as a passenger. The 2-hour pace is comfortable for kids who are okay on the water.

Is there time to swim and take photos along the way?

Yes — that’s why the tour is two hours, not 90 minutes. The guide pauses at the sandbar so you can jump off and get in the water, holds for photos at the southernmost-point line and on the Atlantic side, and gives the group room to swap drivers and passengers if you booked two riders on one ski.

How is this different from a freestyle rental?

A freestyle rental is one hour on the water with no guided route — you stay in a supervised zone and ride as you like. The 2-hour tour is a guided 28-mile circumnavigation of the island with a lead guide setting the line, the stops, and the pace. See our full jet ski lineup for the comparison.

Two hours. 28 miles. The whole island.

Book the only 2-hour guided jet ski tour in Key West. Daily departures from Hurricane Hole Marina, group cap of six skis, $209 per ski.
