Six Fins Private Tours

Your guide. Your schedule. Your Key West.

Most jet ski tours in Key West are one-size-fits-all: a fixed route, a fixed time, and a line of 15–25 skis behind a guide you can barely see. Our private tours are the opposite.

Private jet-ski tours departing from Perry include complimentary Perry Hotel pool and gym access — an approximately $35 value.

Why Private

One guide. Your group. Anywhere you want to go.

Private tours aren't a bigger version of a group tour — they're a different product. Here's what changes.

🏁

Your pace

Open it up on the straights or take it slow at the sandbar. No 25-ski conga line. No half-throttle waiting for stragglers.

🕐

Your schedule

Standard tours run on a fixed timetable. Private tours leave when you want — including sunrise and sunset windows the group tours can't offer.

🧭

Your guide

Our senior guides know every reef, sandbar, channel, and protected cove between Key West and the backcountry. Local knowledge, not a script.

🤫

Your privacy

Just your group on the water. Ideal for families, couples, and groups who want the experience without sharing it.

What a Private Tour Looks Like

You tell us what you want. We build the day around you.

A few of the most-requested private tour formats — but if you can describe it, we can probably make it happen.

🌅

Sunrise rides

Before the harbor wakes up. Calm water, soft light, and the island to yourself.

🌇

Sunset cruises

The best light Key West has to offer — and the only jet ski guide who'll plan the ride around it.

🏝️

Sandbar stops

Boca Chica, Snipes Point, and other local spots most tours don't reach. Swim, float, ride on.

🗺️

Custom routes

Full island circumnavigation, backcountry exploration, or wherever the day's conditions are best.

🎓

Skill-building

For first-time riders or kids. The guide can pace to you instead of the slowest stranger in a group.

🎉

Family & milestone days

Father-son, birthdays, anniversaries, proposals. A private tour with a senior guide makes the day.

Pricing

Flat-rate packages. No per-person surprises.

All private tours include fuel, USCG-approved PFDs, equipment, and a dedicated senior guide.

Like hiring a private ski instructor — not because you can't ride, but because you want to skip the lift line, learn the local spots, and ride the day on your terms.

That sentence does more selling than three paragraphs of feature lists. Because it's true.

Frequently Asked

Private jet ski tour questions, answered.

What is a private jet ski tour with Six Fins?

A private Six Fins jet ski tour is a custom, guide-led ride for your group only. You are not mixed with strangers, and your guide can build the route, pace, stops, and timing around your group's goals and comfort level.

It is ideal for families, couples, first-time riders, experienced riders who want more throttle time, sunrise or sunset rides, milestone events, and groups that want a more personal Key West jet ski experience.

How is a private jet ski tour different from a standard tour?

A standard Six Fins tour runs on a set departure time with up to six customer skis plus one guide. A private tour reserves the experience for your group and gives the guide more freedom to tailor the ride.

That means more flexibility with pace, route, photo stops, sandbar time, and launch timing. You are paying for dedicated capacity and a more customized day.

Can I just rent a jet ski and go out on my own?

No. Six Fins does not offer unguided jet ski rentals, including private rentals. Private tours are still guided for safety, route control, and responsible operation in Key West waters. If your group already owns jet skis, see Bring Your Own Jet Ski + Hire a Guide instead.

The private format gives your group more flexibility, but the guide still manages the route, tides, traffic, shallow areas, sandbars, and safe riding lines. If you want more room to ride, tell us when you book so we can design the private tour around that goal.

What can we customize on a private tour?

You can request the general style of the ride: faster riding, slower family pace, sandbar stop, sunrise or sunset timing, photo stops, backcountry route, skill-building, or a full island loop when time and conditions allow.

The final route always depends on weather, tide, boat traffic, marine conditions, and guide judgment. Private does not mean unsafe; it means the day is built around your group within safe operating conditions.

How much does a private jet ski tour cost?

Private jet ski tour pricing depends on duration, number of skis, route, timing, and guide availability. Existing packages may start around $700 for a private 2-hour tour, with longer private options available by quote.

Call or text Six Fins with your date, preferred time, number of skis, and what kind of ride you want. We will quote the right package instead of forcing your group into a standard public departure.

How many skis can we book on a private tour?

Private tour packages are generally designed for 2–6 customer skis plus a dedicated guide. For larger groups, ask about a private group buyout, which may accommodate more skis with the right staffing, route planning, and timing.

Each Yamaha WaveRunner VX may carry up to three riders, subject to the 530-lb total weight limit, rider comfort, sea conditions, and guide approval.

Is a private tour good for first-time riders?

Yes. A private tour is often the best format for first-time riders because the guide can set the pace around your group instead of balancing mixed strangers on the same departure.

It is also useful for families with kids, riders who are nervous, or experienced riders traveling with beginners. The guide can give your group more attention and choose a route that fits the comfort level.

Do we still need boating safety documentation?

Yes. Any driver born on or after January 1, 1988 needs approved boating-safety education documentation to operate a jet ski in Florida. Drivers who need it can take the FWC-approved Temporary Boater Safety Course online ahead of time and bring proof — the fee is $9.99.

Six Fins also requires drivers to be at least 16 with valid government-issued photo ID. Passengers must be at least 6, and any child rider must ride with an adult 21 or older on the same ski.

What happens if weather is unsafe?

If Six Fins determines conditions are unsafe, your private tour may be rescheduled or refunded according to the applicable booking policy. Because private tours have more flexibility, the guide may also recommend a different launch, route, or time window when that creates a better ride.

The goal is to give your group the best safe private ride Key West conditions allow.
