Where the tourist brochures don’t go.
The Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuge is the version of the Keys that doesn’t show up in tourism brochures. Thousands of acres of mangrove backcountry, shorebird nesting grounds, and tidal flats that most visitors never see from the road.
Our captain navigates the channels and creeks that give access to the refuge. Roseate spoonbills, ospreys, herons, great white egrets, occasional manatees in season. Tarpon working the tide lines. The silence that’s only available when you’re this far from Duval Street.
Three hours moves through several distinct habitats. Bring binoculars.

Before you book.
What wildlife will we actually see?
Ospreys and herons are near-certain. Manatees May–October. Dolphins common in the channels. Tarpon year-round. We can’t guarantee specific sightings, but the captain knows where to look.
Is this good for birders?
Yes. The refuge supports over 250 bird species. Roseate spoonbills are a highlight — they’re rare elsewhere and common here.
Are there mosquitoes in the mangroves?
Sometimes, especially in summer. Bring bug spray. It’s usually not bad offshore, but in the channels it can be noticeable.
Is this appropriate for people who don’t want to swim?
Yes — this is primarily a sightseeing and wildlife charter. Swimming is optional; most guests don’t get in.
