The only one of its kind in Key West

The only 2-hour jet ski tour in Key West — a full 28-mile lap of the island.

Every other Key West operator runs 60 to 90 minutes. We run two hours because that’s how long it actually takes to circle the island, stop at the sandbar, hit the Atlantic side, and still have room to breathe.

Departing Hurricane Hole?

The day pass applies to Perry departures only — but Hurricane Hole has its own waterfront restaurant steps from the dock.

What 30 extra minutes buys you

Two hours isn’t just “90 minutes plus a little.”

If you’ve already decided you want a real tour and not a quick rip around the harbor, here’s the actual difference between the two formats.

The Typical 90-Minute Tour

Loop & return

~14 to 18 miles

  • One side of the island, then back the way you came
  • One brief photo stop, usually rushed because the next group is staging
  • No real sandbar time — the guide can’t spare it
  • Atlantic side either skipped or sampled from a distance
  • Mangrove channels seen from the entrance, not ridden through
The Six Fins 2-Hour Tour

The full circumnavigation

28 miles, all the way around

  • A complete lap of the island — gulf side, Atlantic side, harbor, and back
  • Real time at the sandbar to jump off and get in the water
  • Multiple photo stops including the southernmost-point line from the water
  • The Atlantic side ridden, not glanced at
  • Mangrove channels actually ridden through, not just past
  • Time to swap drivers and passengers if two of you are on one ski

The 28-mile route

What two hours on the water with us actually looks like

Conditions and wind direction can shift the order, but every full lap covers all seven of these. Your FWC-permitted lead guide calls the line based on the day. Wildlife you may spot along the route: dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, nurse sharks, tarpon, pelicans, and frigate birds — the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary teems with life on this run.

1

Mile 0 · The launch

Hurricane Hole Marina

Quick gear check, route brief, and we idle out through the no-wake zone into the channel. Engines open up the second we clear it.

2

Miles 1–6 · Backcountry

The mangrove channels

Protected flats and narrow cuts through the mangroves north of Stock Island. Calmer water, shallower color shifts, and the only part of the lap you won’t find on a tourist map.

3

Miles 7–14 · Atlantic side

Out to the open water

The east-to-south stretch along the Atlantic side of Key West, running through the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Boca Chica and the Naval Air Station Key West coastline pass on your port side. Long, fast lanes with plenty of room to actually open the ski up — the part of the lap riders remember most.

4

Atlantic side · Look down

Wrecks & reefs

The Atlantic water out here runs clear over patch reefs, ledges, and the occasional wreck. On calm days the guide slows the group so you can look straight down at it from the ski.

5

Mile ~15 · The photo stop

The southernmost point

The marker buoy line off the southernmost point of the continental U.S. We pause the group here so you can get the shot from the water that the people in line on land don’t get.

6

Miles 16–22 · Harbor pass

Old Town & the cruise piers

Past Sunset Key, Wisteria Island (Christmas Tree Island), Mallory Square, the cruise ship piers, Fort Zachary Taylor on the harbor approach, and the historic seaport. The view of Key West most visitors never see — from the water, looking in.

7

Miles 23–28 · Sandbar & return

Sandbar stop and home

A real stop on a working sandbar. Jump off, get in the water, swap drivers if you’re doubled up, then we run the last stretch back to Hurricane Hole.

What’s included

$209 per ski covers everything except gratuity

No fuel surcharge, no equipment rental fee, no “guide tip jar” built into the booking page. Here’s the actual list.

Fuel

All gas burned across the 28 miles is on us.

FWC-permitted lead guide

Every tour led by a Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission-permitted guide who lives and rides these waters.

Life vests for every rider

Approved Type III PFDs sized for every passenger, including kids.

Group cap of 6 skis

Hard cap so the guide can actually flex pace for the whole group — adrenaline seekers riding up front near the guide, leisurely riders cruising back in the pack. Not the 20-ski conga line every other Key West operator runs.

Pricing

One flat price per ski

A Yamaha WaveRunner VX Series carries up to three people. One person or a couple pays the same flat rate — split it however you like.

2-Hour Jet Ski Tour Key West

I Lapped the Island

per ski

Frequently Asked

The questions people ask before booking the 2-hour tour

Why book the 2-hour jet ski tour instead of a 60- or 90-minute ride?

Book the 2-Hour Flagship Guided Island Tour if you want the full Key West ride, not just a short harbor loop. Six Fins offers the longest jet ski tour in Key West and the Lower Keys, giving the guide enough time to run the 28-mile island route, reach more varied water, stop for photos, include a sandbar-style break when conditions allow, and avoid making the trip feel rushed.

The 90-minute tour is a strong shorter option, but the 2-hour tour is the signature Six Fins experience and the strongest choice for guests who want the most complete ride.

Can I just rent a jet ski and go out on my own?

No. Six Fins does not offer unguided jet ski rentals. All Six Fins jet ski experiences are guided or guide-supervised for safety, route control, and responsible operation in Key West waters.

Key West is not a simple open lake. Local water conditions change with tides, wind, boat traffic, shallow flats, channels, sandbars, and hazards that may sit just below the surface. Our local guides know where boats and yachts typically run, where riders are most likely to beach or damage a ski, and which routes are safest for the day's conditions. For safety, your guide may ask you to stay in the guide's wake or follow a specific line through certain areas.

If you want the closest option to riding on your own, book the 1-Hour Freestyle Jet Ski Ride. It is still guide-supervised, but the guide leads you to approved free-ride areas where you can enjoy more independent riding under supervision.

Is this really a full lap around Key West?

The 2-hour tour is designed as a full Key West island loop of 28 miles. The guide may adjust the exact line for safety and comfort.

That flexibility is part of the value. You are not renting a ski and guessing where to go; you are following a local guide who knows how to choose the best route for that day.

What makes the Six Fins 2-hour tour different?

Six Fins keeps the tour small, with a maximum of six customer skis plus one guide, and the 2-hour format is the longest jet ski tour offered in Key West and the Lower Keys. The longer ride gives the group more time to travel the island route, stop, regroup, take photos, and experience more than one side of Key West.

You ride a Yamaha WaveRunner VX with fuel, life jacket, safety briefing, and FWC-permitted guide included. The goal is a premium guided island-lap experience, not a crowded follow-the-leader line.

How much does the 2-hour jet ski tour cost?

The 2-Hour Flagship Guided Island Tour is $209 per ski. The price is per ski, not per person, and one Yamaha WaveRunner VX may carry up to three riders subject to the 530-lb total weight limit, rider comfort, sea conditions, and guide approval.

Taxes, gratuity, optional protection products, and third-party booking fees may be separate depending on how you book.

What is included with the 2-hour tour?

The tour includes the Yamaha WaveRunner VX, fuel, USCG-approved life jackets, pre-ride safety briefing, and an FWC-permitted lead guide. The guide sets the route, manages the pace, watches conditions, and helps the group enjoy the full island-lap format safely.

Guests should bring photo ID, any required boating-safety documentation, sunscreen, sunglasses, swimwear, and a towel.

Where does the 2-hour tour launch?

The 2-Hour Flagship Tour is available from both The Perry Hotel & Marina and Hurricane Hole Marina in Key West / Stock Island. Your booking confirmation will give the exact departure location, dock instructions, and arrival time.

Having two launch points helps Six Fins choose the better side of the island for the day's wind, traffic, and water conditions.

How many jet skis go out together?

Six Fins keeps the tour small, with a maximum of six customer skis plus one guide. Each Yamaha WaveRunner VX may carry up to three riders, so the number of people can vary, but the number of customer skis stays capped.

That smaller format helps the guide manage the group, keep the ride moving, and avoid the crowded feel of a large-volume tour.

Can beginners book the 2-hour tour?

Yes. Beginners can book the 2-hour tour if they are comfortable on the water, able to follow safety instructions, and prepared for a longer ride. The tour includes a pre-ride briefing, guide instruction, and a pace set around the group and the conditions.

If you are nervous, short on time, or unsure how you will feel on a jet ski, the 1-Hour Freestyle Ride or 90-Minute Premium Tour may be an easier first step.

Can kids ride on the 2-hour tour?

Yes. Passengers must be at least 6 years old, and any child rider must ride with an adult 21 or older on the same ski. Six Fins requires drivers to be at least 16 years old with a valid government-issued photo ID.

The 2-hour tour works best for children who are comfortable on the water and can handle a longer ride. For younger children, bring a properly fitted USCG-approved Type III life jacket if you have one.

Do I need a boating safety card for the 2-hour tour?

Drivers born on or after January 1, 1988 need approved boating-safety education documentation to operate a jet ski in Florida. You may complete an approved temporary course before arrival or arrive early and complete it at the dock when available. Drivers who need it can take the FWC-approved Temporary Boater Safety Course online ahead of time and bring proof — the fee is $9.99.

Six Fins also requires drivers to be at least 16 with valid photo ID, complete the safety briefing, and follow guide instructions during the ride.

What happens if weather prevents the full island loop?

If Six Fins determines conditions are unsafe for the route, guests may be rescheduled or refunded according to the applicable booking policy. The guide may also adjust the route when conditions make one side of the island better than another.

The goal is not to force the loop at all costs. The goal is to give you the best safe ride Key West conditions allow that day.

What is the cancellation policy for the 2-hour tour?

Direct bookings require 48-hour notice for cancellation. Bookings made within 48 hours, cancellations inside 48 hours, late arrivals, and no-shows are non-refundable.

Reservation Refund Protection, when purchased, may allow an eligible refund or transfer up to one hour before departure. Third-party bookings may follow the policy shown on that platform.
