Operator Note: As of November 5, 2025, Six Fins has taken over jet ski tour operations at Hurricane Hole Marina, previously home to Key West Water Tours. The signature 2-hour island circumnavigation route — previously offered as the Ultimate Island Tour — lives on under the name “I Lapped the Island.” Same marina, same local-knowledge experience — now with an improved 28-mile route, upgraded facilities, brand-new Yamaha WaveRunners, additional launch locations across Key West, and FWC-permitted guides leading every tour.

What’s New Under Six Fins

The good parts, kept — the friction, fixed

The 22-year legacy of Key West Water Tours was great local knowledge and a route only a true local would design. Six Fins kept all of that and added the things that needed updating.

Brand-new WaveRunners

2024 Yamaha VX jet skis — quieter, smoother, faster than the old fleet.

Upgraded marina facilities

Same Hurricane Hole Restaurant & Marina, now with better staging, parking, and check-in.

Additional launch locations

Hurricane Hole on Stock Island plus Perry Hotel & Marina — wind-day flexibility most operators don’t have.

FWC-permitted guides

Every tour led by a Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission-permitted guide who lives and rides these waters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Key West Water Tours, now Six Fins

Answers to the questions repeat KWWT customers and new searchers ask most.

Is this still the same tour Key West Water Tours used to run?

Yes. The signature Hurricane Hole island route formerly associated with Key West Water Tours now runs under Six Fins as the 2-Hour Flagship Guided Island Tour, also known as “I Lapped the Island.”

The marina, the local-water route strategy, and the island-lap concept remain. Six Fins has upgraded the experience with Yamaha WaveRunner VX watercraft, FWC-permitted guides, smaller group control, and additional Key West launch flexibility.

What changed when Six Fins took over?

The biggest changes are the operator, the fleet, the booking experience, and the brand standard. Six Fins took over jet ski operations at Hurricane Hole on November 5, 2025.

The route still honors what repeat Key West Water Tours guests came for: a real island circumnavigation, local guide knowledge, and the feeling of lapping Key West instead of idling behind a crowded line.

Can I still book the Ultimate Island Tour?

Yes. The old Ultimate Island Tour is now best matched by Six Fins' 2-Hour Flagship Guided Island Tour. It is designed as an 28-mile Key West island loop, depending on route, weather, tide, boat traffic, and marine conditions.

Six Fins offers the longest jet ski tour in Key West and the Lower Keys, so if you came looking for the full island-lap ride, this is the tour to book.

Can I just rent a jet ski and go out on my own from Hurricane Hole?

No. Six Fins does not offer unguided jet ski rentals. All Six Fins jet ski experiences are guided or guide-supervised for safety, route control, and responsible operation in Key West waters.

Key West waters include tide changes, shallow flats, channels, sandbars, yacht traffic, and hazards that may sit just below the surface. Our local guides know the safe lines and may ask you to stay in the guide's wake or follow a specific route through certain areas.

What is the 1-Hour Freestyle Ride?

The 1-Hour Freestyle Ride is the closest Six Fins option to riding independently, but it is still guide-supervised. Your guide leads you to approved free-ride areas, watches conditions, manages traffic and route safety, and gives you room to ride under supervision.

Think of it like hiring a ski instructor in unfamiliar terrain: the guide gets you safely to the right area, then gives you room to enjoy the ride.

Where does the tour launch from?

The Key West Water Tours legacy route launches from Hurricane Hole Marina at 5130 Overseas Hwy in Key West / Stock Island. Six Fins also operates jet ski tours from The Perry Hotel & Marina.

Your booking confirmation will give the exact launch location, arrival time, and check-in instructions.

How much does it cost?

The 2-Hour Flagship Guided Island Tour is $209 per ski. The 1-Hour Freestyle Jet Ski Ride is $160 per ski.

Pricing is per ski, not per person. One Yamaha WaveRunner VX may carry up to three riders, subject to the 530-lb total weight limit, rider comfort, sea conditions, and guide approval.

Why book Six Fins instead of another Key West jet ski operator?

Six Fins keeps standard tours small, uses Yamaha WaveRunner VX watercraft, operates from two Key West marinas, and runs with FWC-permitted local guides.

The 2-Hour Flagship Tour is the standout: the longest jet ski tour in Key West and the Lower Keys, built for guests who want the full island-lap experience rather than a short nearshore loop.

Do drivers need a boating safety card?

If you are driving and were born on or after January 1, 1988, Florida requires approved boating-safety education documentation to operate a jet ski. Drivers who need it can take the FWC-approved Temporary Boater Safety Course online ahead of time and bring proof — the fee is $9.99.

Six Fins also requires drivers to be at least 16 years old with a valid government-issued photo ID. Every driver must complete the safety briefing and follow guide instructions.

How do I book?

Use the booking buttons on the page or call/text Six Fins with your preferred date, time, and number of skis. Same-day availability may be possible mid-week or off-season, but advance booking is better for the 2-hour flagship route.

If you are a former Key West Water Tours guest, tell us when you book. We will point you to the closest Six Fins replacement experience.

Ready to lap the island?

The tour Key West Water Tours customers have been booking for years — same route, brand-new boats, under the Six Fins flag since November 2025.
