What “Private” Actually Means

Not a shared charter. Your boat, for your occasion.

A milestone moment deserves the boat to yourselves, not a fixed-schedule tour with strangers. Here’s the difference between the boat you’re booking and almost everything else on the harbor.

Shared charter / party boat

  • You’re seated next to people you’ve never met
  • Fixed departure time, fixed route, fixed return
  • 40 to 100 passengers on a pontoon or catamaran
  • Music, photos, and pace are set for the crowd, not you
  • The captain belongs to the whole boat, not your group
  • Bathroom is shared with everyone aboard

Six Fins private boat charter

  • The Jeanneau NC 895 is yours from dock to return
  • You set the launch time and the dock-in time
  • Up to 8 guests — nobody on board you didn’t invite
  • Itinerary built around what your group wants to do
  • USCG-licensed captain dedicated to your party
  • Private head, private shaded cabin, private cooler

The Vessel

The Jeanneau NC 895 — our flagship private charter boat

Thirty feet of well-built French naval architecture: a real cabin, a real head, real shade, and a deep, dry ride. Not a center-console you bake on for six hours.

Jeanneau NC 895 — 30’ cabin cruiser

The NC 895 is what Jeanneau builds for people who want a yacht-grade ride without yacht-grade fuss. Twin outboards, a full shaded cabin, an enclosed private head, and the kind of beam that keeps the deck steady when the trade winds pick up in the afternoon.

Pick Your Occasion

Tell us what you’re celebrating. We’ll match the boat to it.

Every occasion below runs on the same Jeanneau NC 895 — the difference is timing, route, and the small details the captain builds around your day. Combine them, swap them, or describe something we haven’t listed.

Looking further afield? Our Marquesas Keys discovery run is a full-day private trip on the Jeanneau, and the Dry Tortugas runs with one of our excursion partners.

Frequently Asked

Special occasion charter, answered.

The questions guests ask before they book, in plain English.

What kind of special occasions is this good for?

Proposals, anniversaries, birthdays, family reunions, and other milestone celebrations. Tell Six Fins about the occasion when you book so the captain can help shape timing, route, music, a swim stop, sunset positioning, or a quiet moment around what matters.

Is this a private charter, or do we share the boat?

Every Six Fins special-occasion charter is private — your group only, no strangers, no shared seating. The 30-foot Jeanneau NC 895 runs on your timing with a dedicated USCG-licensed captain.

What’s the best option for a proposal?

A private Romantic Sunset Cruise is the most popular choice for proposals — a quiet Atlantic-side sunset run with bow seating made up for two. A Secret Local Sandbar Escape or Custom Combo Charter also works well if you want a swim or a fuller day around the moment.

What’s the best option for a birthday or family reunion?

The Secret Local Sandbar Escape and Custom Activities Combo Charter are the most popular picks for birthdays and reunions — room to spread out, swim, and build the day around more than one activity. Both scale from small groups up to 6 standard guests (8 by request).

Is this the right page for a memorial or ash-scattering trip?

For a memorial or ash-scattering charter specifically, Six Fins has a dedicated Ash Scattering Charter with its own product details and pricing. This special-occasion page is built for celebrations — proposals, birthdays, anniversaries, and reunions.

How many guests can come?

1–6 guests is the standard six-pack charter, with fuel and a USCG-licensed captain included. A 7th guest is available under a bareboat structure for +$150, and an 8th guest for +$300 — 8 is the maximum.

On the bareboat leg, the Charterer (must be 21+) hires and pays the captain separately at $65 per charter-hour, and fuel is billed at $35 per charter-hour through FareHarbor. Call before booking so the team can walk you through the structure.

How much does it cost?

Six Fins private boat experiences start at $995 for select private charters. The private half-day Jeanneau charter starts at $1,195, with longer options available depending on duration and itinerary.

Pricing is per boat, not per person — no special-occasion surcharge or invented package pricing.

Where does the boat charter depart from?

Boat charters depart from Perry Hotel & Marina on Stock Island / Key West, Dock A, Slip #32. Your confirmation will include arrival instructions.

What happens if weather is unsafe?

If Six Fins or the captain determines conditions are unsafe, guests may be rescheduled or refunded according to the applicable booking policy. The captain makes the call based on safety, not pressure to run the trip.

Ready to make the day yours?

Tell us the occasion and when you’re in town. We’ll quote the boat, hold the date, and the captain will start building your itinerary from there.
